•A model is generalized to evaluate co-production behavior of a multilayer reservoir.•NMR and HPMI tests are integrated with wettability to generalize theoretical models.•Effect of seepage and pore-throat characteristics are examined and quantified.•Effects of varying throat, water front, and delaying breakthrough are distinguished.
