Targeted poverty alleviation disclosure and analyst forecast accuracy: Evidence from a quasi-natural experiment

•This paper analyzes the influence of Targeted Poverty Alleviation (TPA) disclosure on analyst forecast.•Using the TPA disclosure policy in China as an exogenous shock, we find that firm TPA disclosure can significantly improve analyst forecast accuracy.•This effect is pronounced only for firms with greater information processing cost and firms with fewer covering analysts.•Detailed TPA-related textual contents help promote analyst forecast.•Hence, we enrich the scant research on the economic consequences of the TPA engagement.
