Drainless pre-pectoral implant breast reconstruction: a retrospective cohort study

Background: Implant breast reconstruction (IBR) is the commonest reconstructive procedure worldwide. There is shift towards pre-pectoral implant placement, which with enhanced recovery and could be a step towards day case IBR. This is important as demand exceeds inpatient and theatre capacity. The aim of our study was to explore the impact of drainless pre-pectoral IBR (pIBR) on surgical outcomes and length of hospital stay (LOS) to facilitate day case reconstruction pathways.
