•Baseline ctDNA was not associated with progression free or overall survival (OS).•A change in ctDNA after one cycle of treatment was predictive of survival.•A decrease in ctDNA (T1-2) corresponded with longer OS despite radiological progression.•Low NLR was associated with improved OS.
