A retrospective textual analysis of sexual and reproductive health counseling for adolescent and young adult people with epilepsy of gestational capacity

•Of 971 patients with epilepsy, 38% never had reproductive health counseling documented.•Nearly half of patient-years (49%) had no mention of reproductive health counseling.•Menses, folic acid, and contraception were each documented in >20% of patient-years.•Pregnancy, teratogens, or sexual activity were documented in <5% of patient-years.•Teratogen use, age, and race/ethnicity were factors associated with counseling.
