•Innovative construction system consisting of porous brick blocks with multiple air cavities (HW).•Experimental and numerical comparison between HW and a super-insulated lightweight wall (LW).•The maximum air temperature reached by the HW system is 2.7 °C lower than the LW wall.•HW allows higher indoor comfort than LW for all the explored scenarios.
