Abstract
Prior work from our group has demonstrated that increasing adult hippocampal neurogenesis in mice improves pattern separation, a process of separating similar experiences into non-overlapping representations. In humans, some individuals with mood disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder display impaired pattern separation, and treatment with neurogenic compounds could be a novel therapeutic strategy. Here, we determine the behavioral effects of chronic administration in mice of a neurogenic compound, Alto-100, on pattern separation in a contextual fear discrimination task.
