Updates on Role for and Efficacy of Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy in the Management of Brain Tumors
Advances in Oncology(2023)
Abstract
In this review, we provide a discussion of recent work related to the use of laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) in the treatment of brain tumors. We begin by examining recent evidence of the use of LITT in the treatment of grade 2 or 3 glioma, new and recurrent glioblastoma, and as a method to improve immunotherapy delivery. We continue by highlighting recent work in the treatment of brain metastases and radiation necrosis. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of LITT in the treatment of posterior fossa and motor cortex tumors.
