Although the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders has increased over the last few decades, its treatment is still limited to psychosocial therapy, partly due to the elusive neuropathology. For unveiling the underlying mechanisms of autism, contrastive neuroimaging features with only patient-specific information may help the identification of essential brain connections and regions. Together with constructing neurobiological-correlated dimensions in autism symptoms using a data-driven method, it has the potential of revealing neurobiological mechanisms underlying autism spectrum disorders.
