Development of a method for predicting the transient behavior of an absorption chiller using artificial intelligence methods

•Artificial intelligence models to predict absorption chillers behavior was proposed.•A strategy modeling was built though the intelligent regression methods.•The COP was estimated at 0.71 ± 0.05 within the values found by the manufacturer.•The proposed strategy represents a robust analysis tool for absorption chiller.•Outlet temperature predicted presenting a good accuracy showing errors below 1 %.
