Pd-functionalized 2D TMDC MoTe2 monolayer as an efficient glucose Sensor: A First-principles DFT study

摘要
•Glucose (GLU) adsorption characteristics properties of pristine and metal functionalized 2D transition metal dichalcogenide MoTe2 were investigated using DFT.•Pd decorated MoTe2 has been found to be a potential member for glucose sensing.•Reasonable adsorption energy, extended charge transfer, and strong orbital interaction exist between the GLU and the Pd functionalized MoTe2 monolayer.•The practical viability of the Pd functionalized MoTe2-based GLU sensors, such as recovery time, structural stability, and diffusion energy barrier, were also investigated.
