Abstract
•Hyaluronate can stabilize FeS nanoparticles at SoH-to-FeS molar ratios ≥0.001.•SoH-modified FeS had superior stability, oxidation resistance, and transport.•SoH-FeS enhanced Cr(VI) removal efficiency from 57.5% to 99.9% compared to bare FeS.•Cr(VI) removal occurred mainly via surface sorption (26.8%) and reduction (73.2%).
