摘要

•Photochromic WO3/Bi2WO6 nanoparticles are synthesized by the intercalation reaction between Bi atoms and [WO6] octahedral framework.•The crystalline/amorphous type II heterostructures provide sufficient interfacial contact and exhibited improved charge carrier dynamics.•The efficient photochromic property is used to develop a device for naked-eye observation of sunlight UV through the color signal.
