Sharing roads with automated vehicles: A questionnaire investigation from drivers’, cyclists’ and pedestrians’ perspectives

•Acceptance of sharing roads with FAVs was studied among drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.•Pedestrians reported lowest intention towards sharing roads with FAVs.•Risk profile had a significant association with road users’ sharing intention.•Drivers and cyclists in a lower-risk group were more likely to share roads with FAVs.•Age, gender, and exposure time on roads played a significant role for specific groups.
