•In this manuscript “Results from an IFCC Global Survey on Laboratory Practices for the Analysis of Circulating Tumor DNA” we describe the current situation of molecular diagnostics of circulating tumor DNA.•The data shown relate to a survey of more than 50 laboratories worldwide.•The data collected focus on the methods used for testing and highlight the means of quality assurance, the means of reporting and the need of standardization.
