County-level social vulnerability and nonfatal drug overdose emergency department visits and hospitalizations, January 2018–December 2020

•Increased social vulnerability is associated with increased nonfatal drug overdose.•Magnitude of association varied by visit type (ED vs. inpatient) and drug category.•Interventions should address determinants of health that contribute to disparities.
