National survey findings on law enforcement agency drug response practices, overdose victim outcomes, and Good Samaritan Laws

•Implementing policies aimed at addressing the overdose epidemic pose a number of challenges for policy makers.•Harm reduction‐based policies such as Good Samaritan Laws are recent strategies in need of evaluation.•Although GSLs are well intentioned, training police and educating people who use drugs may help inform them of these laws.
