A rare new species of Protium from Rondônia, Brazil. Studies in Neotropical Burseraceae XXXI

Protium herisonii (Burseraceae) is described and illustrated. The new species differs from almost all other Protieae by having at least ten pairs of leaflets, and is further distinguished from P. alvarezianum and P. ferrugineum by the abaxial leaflet surface being not papillate, paniculate inflorescences (vs. often pseudospicate) and glabrous fruits (vs. pubescent).
