•Individual reputation and preferential selection can affect system cooperative behaviors.•We propose a reputation-based preference selection mechanism.•Following the weight of reputation, we dynamically adjust individual fitness and resource allocation in cooperation.•We obtain the optimal interdependence intensity of individuals' cooperation through a large number of experiments.
