Autoimmunity and its correlation to inflammatory vascular diseases

Inflammatory vascular disease encompasses a vast spectrum of pathologies, almost all of which have their pathogenesis deeply rooted in autoimmunity. These conditions affect a magnitude of people across all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds all over the world and can present as anything from innocuous localized cutaneous disease to life-threatening systemic emergencies requiring immediate treatment. This chapter will discuss in detail the common pathological entities associated with autoimmune-implicated inflammatory vascular disease focusing on the important signs and symptoms, diagnosis, pathophysiology, and treatments involved in each.
