The Impact of the Pregnancy Sickness Support Training Package on the Knowledge and Attitudes of Student Midwives Towards Hyperemesis Gravidarum: Protocol for a Small, Evaluative Research Project

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition causing severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. Patients with hyperemesis gravidarum report that caregivers dismiss their illness, and lack understanding and compassion towards them. Midwifery theoretical education plays a key role in preparing future midwives for practice. It is proposed that the Pregnancy Sickness Support charity’s training session on hyperemesis gravidarum be assessed as to its impacts on the knowledge and attitudes of student midwives. The results of the research will provide evidence for the use of the training session in university undergraduate midwifery education.
