Investigation and countermeasures research of medical informatization of Third-Grade Class-A public hospital in China (Preprint)

BACKGROUND In today’s information age, a trend in medical informatization has been observed. It is through decades of hard work that medical informatization has initially demonstrated its advantages in improving the medical service industry. OBJECTIVE In order to provide strategic support for further development of medical informatization in China, this study is aimed to investigate the current situation of medical informatization construction in Third-Grade Class-A public hospitals and analyze the existing problems and countermeasures. METHODS This study used a self-designed questionnaire to evaluate 23 Third-Grade Class-A public hospitals in China. RESULTS The results show that the medical informatization infrastructure construction and Internet service application of the hospitals are good, but a remarkable gap in the level of medical informatization among the different hospitals can be observed. Moreover, the actual utilization rate of huge data collected and stored in the hospital information system was very low. CONCLUSIONS In the next step of medical information construction, the support for information construction among grassroots medical institutions should be encouraged. The personnel should have the necessary knowledge on IT and medicine. Specialized informatization standard construction should be established, promoting the deep integration of medical data and leading-edge technology to facilitate the development of medical informatization.
