Strategy, Policies and Practices for Carbon Management

Strategy, policies and practices for carbon/greenhouse gas (GHG) management are key to achieving a Net Zero future and mitigating the challenges of climate change for a low-carbon and sustainable economy. This chapter supports managers in designing relevant strategy, policies and practices for the effective implementation of GHG management – in any sector. It suggests a planned approach through all hierarchy levels from ‘elimination’ to ‘compensation’ to reduce GHG emissions. ‘Carbon offsetting’ as a concept is also discussed and evaluated, for organisations with residual emissions to become Carbon Neutral or Net Zero.
