A Novel Selective Method for the Synthesis of α‐Bromoacetophenone and α,α‐ Dibromoacetophenone Using NaBr/K ₂ S ₂ O ₈

Abstract Bromoacetophenones are important pharmaceutical intermediates in drug synthesis. In this work, through conditional screening, α‐bromoacetophenone and α,α‐dibromoacetophenone were selectively synthesized using sodium bromide as a bromine source and potassium persulfate as an oxidant. Herein, a novel, green, and selective bromide synthesis reaction was developed.
