Abstract
It is shown that the electricity transmission over long distances is accompanied by electrical losses. These energy losses depend on the line layout, the wires material and their quality, cable fittings and the service life of the system as a whole. The desire to save expensive non-ferrous metals and increasing loads on power lines led designers to the idea of creating hollow wires. The construction length of hollow cables is limited, therefore, cable sleeves are used to connect them. The coupling zone is subject to electrochemical corrosion, thermal and mechanical stresses, and the service life, like the cable, must be at least 30 years. Therefore, high demands are placed on the manufacture of couplings in terms of wall thickness and geometric dimensions accuracy. It is shown that it is more economical to manufacture these connecting elements using a hood. At the same time, experimentally verified recommendations are given regarding the drawing method and the choice of tool design parameters.
