•Nanodroplet can be separated by microfiltration membrane with electric field.•Electric field significantly promote flux by 14 times based on 1202 LMH/bar.•Electro-filtration for micro-/nano-SSE with a general applicability.•Electrophoresis and double layer force mainly contribute to high flux and antifouling respectively.
