The application of RNA sequencing in precision cancer medicine

Advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies enabling comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic profiling has enabled researchers to make significant strides toward precision medicine approach to diagnosis and treatment of cancers. Indeed, large-scale tumor profiling has become a routine aspect in clinical decision-making. This chapter details the application of RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) in various aspects of precision oncology including, biomarker discovery, characterization of tumor heterogeneity, resistance, the tumor's microenvironment and immunotherapy, and cancer neoantigens.
