Affinity-purified Vitellogenin/vitellin is a Major Component of Total Allergen Recognized by German Cockroach-specific IgE

The German cockroach (GCr) generates aeroallergens associated with allergic rhinitis and asthma. Vitellogenin(Vg)/vitellin(Vn), an abundant protein in GCr blood, eggs and egg cases, is a possible allergen with high molecular mass. Prior efforts to purify Vg/Vn yielded amounts too small for our studies. We report here an affinity purification of Vg/Vn from whole body defatted powder from adult GCr.
