Syngas production by gasification processes

This chapter presents the production of syngas by gasification processes. It starts with an overview of the state of the art of the gasification process. It then goes into more detail on the gasification process: the stages of the process, as well as the wide range of chemical reactions that take place; the fuels and gasifying agents used; the syngas composition; and the operating and performance parameters of the process. This chapter also includes the different technologies used for the gasification process and an overview of the various gas cleaning and upgrading processes. The numerous applications of synthesis gas from the gasification process are presented. Finally, the future trends in the area and the main conclusions of the chapter are presented.
