Abstract
The scattering simulation is fundamental to analyze the physical characteristics of planetary surface. In practice, the detected region is extremely large, thus it will bring great burden on the scattering simulation. In this paper, we use the coherent and incoherent model to calculate the radar cross section (RCS) of electrically large planet surfaces. Compared with the PO method with quasi-specular-facet model, the simulation efficiency is improved by 347 times. As the typically physical properties, the surface roughness is concerned. By simulating the RCSs of two different topographies, it is demonstrated that the surface roughness has a significant influence on the scattering properties of the planetary surface in microwave band.
