Abstract
Teacher leadership has long been a favorite lever for school improvement. Although sometimes ill-defined and often lacking a theoretical foundation, research on teacher leadership has been increasing. Research demonstrates positive outcomes for teacher leadership, but a better understanding of how to develop teachers and administrators together for work that supports shared goals indicates a need to expand beyond teacher leadership to collective leadership development. Developing teachers and administrators through leadership work enhances relational trust, expands capacity, increases professional capital, and improves outcomes for students.
