摘要
Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) is a widely applied and accepted risk analysis tool in different areas such as industrial sector, healthcare sector, process industries, finance, software industry, services, security and other fields. In most FMEAs, the risk priority number (RPN) is used to rate the causes or modes of failure. RPN is determined by multiplication of Occurrence probability (O), failure Severity (S) and failure Detection (D). The disadvantage in fuzzy FMEA is that it ignores the indeterminacy of the expert’s knowledge. In order to account, the indeterminacy involved in experts’ knowledge and vague/uncertainty concept together, in the proposed work, we present intuitionistic fuzzy-based failure mode effect analysis (IF-FMEA) to rank the causes of failure based on IF-RPN score magnitude so as to overcome drawbacks in fuzzy FMEA technique. The proposed approach is exemplified with the application of an alternator with 28 MW capacity in a co-generation power plant installed in a sugar mill located in the western Uttar Pradesh.
