Abstract
Colletotrichum truncatum is a hemibiotrophic fungal plant pathogen causing significant yield losses in several economically important crops. Molecular basis of complex host–pathogen interactions have been elucidated through several studies aiding in understanding the role of different signaling and biochemical pathways underpinning the host resistance. Employing the host plant resistance is the most economical and effective way of managing anthracnose disease. Several genes and quantitative trait loci (QTL) governing anthracnose resistance have been identified in different crops. Development of varieties through introgression of these genes and QTL will help in combating the yield losses due to this disease.
