172. Sleep Quality in Overweight Adolescents during COVID-19 Lockdown

During COVID-19 lockdown, adolescents with pre-existing obesity may have worsened their condition [1], especially related to increased sedentary behaviors and altered sleep patterns. We aimed to investigate sleep quality during this period in obese adolescents already followed at a clinical obesity-management program, and correlate it with changes in body weight. We assessed sleep quality by a self-rated questionnaire (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [2]) given to adolescents at the clinic in march 2021, thus one year after the beginning of COVID-19 lockdown. We analyzed cross-sectional data from adolescents with obesity assessed one-year post-lockdown, and retrospective clinical data (pre-lockdown), with paired-sample t/Wilcoxon signed-rank tests and partial correlations, controlling for body mass index (BMI) z-score change (increased vs. maintained/decreased), and sex.
