Abstract
The forced transition to a distance education at the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“ in the period 2020-2022 has shown that the e-learning has the potential not only to change the way of our teaching but to improve the quality of teaching and understanding. In transforming traditional faceto-face learning into online learning classes, we found that despite the amount of information available on the internet, it was difficult to find appropriate resources for training in „Plant Anatomy and Morphology“ at a high scientific level in Bulgarian, following the program of the course. This challenged us to design and create an attractive author’s product – a video presentation, including an animation on the theme „Plant Cell“, which captures the attention of the students and introduces the terminology and information in an interesting and interactive way. With the methods of the 2D animation, including video clips and sound, along with a variety of photos and text, we present a summary of the structure of the plant cell. The video presentation is focused on important content, which will be available repeatedly and regardless of the place and time, in a convenient environment for the students. Our goal is to support active learning, which engages the students in an in-depth understanding and master their ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the course of study.
