Simulation study of high velocity impact analysis on AA7075 nanocomposites

Abstract
In this study, nanocomposites’ high-velocity impact behavior for lightweight defense applications was studied using aluminum alloy (AA) 7075 reinforced with 1.5 weight percent (wt%) nanoclay nanoparticle. The nanocomposite was manufactured using a stir casting manufacturing technique with equivalently distributed nanomaterial inside the AA7075 material, and both the matrix and nanocomposite material underwent a T6 surface treatment. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (X-RD) analysis have been used to examine the produced materials. Finally, the high-velocity impact characteristics of the AA7075 and nanocomposite material was simulated using the fusion software.
