摘要
Continuous human activity is to blame for releasing nitrogen dioxide (NO2), an unhealthy gas with an acidic nature and a pungent smell, into the atmosphere. The conventional materials which have been used for devel-oping NO2 gas sensors have certain confines like high temperature demands, performance deterioration under severe environmental circumstances, and slow recovery. Owing to these limitations the scientific communities are forced to find an alternative to the traditional materials being used as sensitive material for NO2 gas sensors. MoS2 (Molybdenum disulfide) has materialized as a possible contender for the creation of new NO2 gas sensors. Considering how easily it integrates with other materials, compatibility with various devices and controllable morphologies, the surface area of MoS2 is sufficient for the adsorption of NO2 molecules. The goal of this sys-tematic study is to cater a comprehensive examination of the fabrication of chemiresistive sensors in terms of devices, metal nanoparticle doping, morphology control, layer thickness, heterostructures, defect tailoring and through light illumination. Furthermore, the theoretical and experimental conditions used in the design of MoS2- based NO2 sensors are extensively discussed. The systematic review concludes with a discussion of the challenges and potential directions for further improving MoS2 gas sensing performance. Realizing and appreciating these questions are anticipated to turnout the growth of remarkably dependent and industry standard chemiresistive NO2 gas sensors for environmental monitoring.
