Abstract
This work proposes a modified analytical model for flux linkage and torque calculation in Switched Reluctance Machines (SRM). This model employs special features of the SRM and BH curve models to determine flux linkage with knee modification. The analytical model also considers the basic geometric parameters like turns, phase current, and stator and rotor pole tapering angles that affect average torque and current density. The analytical model of main and fringing flux linkages is integrated to calculate co-energy and static torque as a function of rotor position. The BH curve model with knee adjustment and tapering angles was added to help estimate torque profiles more accurately. The flux linkage and torque profiles derived from the analytical model are verified using FEA Finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental measurements of an 18 slot/12 pole, 32 kW SRM.
