Abstract
In this paper, we present an analytical model to calculate the magnetic field, the mutual inductance and eddy current in a long conductive rod wound by a cylindrical coil of finite length. The proposed model can be included as an efficient and fast analytical tool in the design optimization approach of axisymetrical electromagnetic actuators. This model, formulated in magnetic vector potential, is based on the search for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions allowing determining the analytical solution of partial differential equations derived in each region by using the separation of variables technique. The results obtained from the proposed analytical model are compared to those of finite element code implemented in (COMSOL).
