The transcriptomic effects of hyperthermia in cisplatin HIPEC: results from the OVIP trial

Background: HIPEC with cisplatin in addition to cytoreductive surgery (CRS) can be a valuable treatment option in stage III epithelial ovarian cancer. Some studies report hyperthermic enhancement of tumor cell killing for cisplatin in vitro and in murine models, and we previously reported a potentially enhanced pharmacokinetic profile of hyperthermic chemoperfusion when compared with normothermic chemoperfusion of cisplatin. However, there is only a very limited amount of human in vivo data on the effects of hyperthermic chemoperfusion on tumor cells.
