摘要
Poly (methyl methacrylate) acid (PMMA) and κ-carrageenan/alginate (κ-Cr/Ag/PMMA) blend was modified for the formation of hydrogels based bead matrix by double cross-linking method. The aims of this study is investigated on the chemical properties and characterization of a mixture of carrageenan/alginate modified poly (methyl methacrylate) acid as a bead matrix for drug delivery system applications. The characterization of the bead matrix product was carried out by immersing the bead matrix at various pH solutions (pH 4, 7, and 9) and immersion time (0 to 150 minutes). Modified κ-Cr/Ag/PMMA proved to be a fairly good drug delivery agent with an expansion ratio of up to 66 (g/g) and % solubility of 38% at pH 9 for immersion time of 150 minutes. The results of the FT-IR analysis confirmed that the κ- Cr/Ag mixture was covalently associated with PMMA with evidence that a new peak appeared at 1727 cm−1. This study shows that κ-Cr/Ag/PMMA could potentially be a drug delivery agent.
