Universal similarity function in the Monin-Obukhov theory in the extremely stable turbulent boundary layer

In the urban environment of Tomsk, long–term observations of the main characteristics of the turbulent atmosphere in the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory were carried out using the AMK-03-4 ultrasonic station. The paper presents new results of measurements in 2021 of vertical derivatives of average temperature and average horizontal wind velocity in the turbulent atmosphere of the boundary layer. In measurements in the urban surface layer of the turbulent atmosphere, the range of experimentally observed Monin-Obukhov numbers has been significantly expanded – 227 ≤ ζ ≤ +72572 in the positive region, where experimental data were previously absent. This made it possible, on the basis of the necessary characteristics obtained, to restore the empirical view of the function φ(ζ) with super-strong stable stratification in the range +1 ≤ ζ ≤ +72572. The comprehensive studies of the similarity function performed in this paper based on the measurement data of 2021 can be considered as a new significant result in the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory.
