Abstract
In this paper, a linear four element antenna array has been designed and analysed with beam steering capabilities. The beam steering operation is achieved using varactor diodes by changing the phase difference generated at each array element. The antenna utilises eight such diodes and three Wilkinson power dividers for in phase current distribution to each of the radiating element. The proposed array antenna has a compact size of 30 mm x 20 mm and a thickness of 0.5 mm. It is able to steer the radiating beam from -11 degree to +11 degree depending on the capacitance generated by the varactors, at a frequency of 32 GHz, applicable in modern 5G communication networks.
