An Accelerated Route for Synthesis of Glycerol Carbonate Using MgTiO3 Perovskite as Greener and Cheaper Catalyst

•Designing of novel, transition metal-based perovskite MgTiO3 catalysts for glycerol transesterification reaction.•Characterization of catalyst for morphology, crystal orientation, and variable oxidation state of transition metals present carried out.•The catalyst is highly efficient for conversion (93%) of glycerol and selectivity of glycerol carbonate (88.7%) at optimized reaction conditions.•The catalyst is basic, non-toxic, bio-degradable and green in nature for several applications.
