A novel systematic pipeline for increased predictability and explainability of growth patterns in children using trajectory features

•There is no consensus on the best method to detect growth patterns and label them in an unbiased manner.•Growth trajectories can be constructed using different anthropometric metrics, analytical approaches and time points.•The proposed pipeline can accurately predict growth patterns providing a foundation for less variable analyses.•A smaller set of features is sufficient to detect growth patterns with high accuracy.
