Abstract Mo.no.glo'bus. Gr. masc. adj. monos , single, solitary; L. masc. n. globus , a ball, sphere; N.L. masc. n. Monoglobus single sphere. Firmicutes / Clostridia / Clostridiales / Ruminococcaceae / Monoglobus Coccus‐shaped cells, 0.6 μm in diameter. Nonmotile. Endospores are not observed. Gram‐positive‐stain. Colonies are small. Mesophilic. Strictly anaerobic. Cytochrome oxidase‐negative. Catalase‐positive. Grow on d ‐galacturonic acid, d ‐xylose, l‐ arabinose, d ‐fructose, and pectins from various sources. Major fermentation products include H 2 , CO 2 , acetate, formate, and lactate. Major cellular fatty acids include C 18:1 ω9 c , an 18C‐straight monounsaturated fatty acid. 16S rRNA gene sequence affiliates the genus Monoglobus to the family Ruminococcaceae . Isolated from the feces of a healthy human donor residing in New Zealand. DNA G +C content (mol%) : 37.2 (genome). Type species : Monoglobus pectinilyticus Kim et al. 2017 VP .
