Abstract
Abstract The extreme climate change can result in long dry season or high rainfall, thereby can affect water supply. Water supply highly influences paddy and fish productivity in Mina Padi (paddy-fish integration farming system) pattern. This research aims to analyze the Mina Padi farmers’ adapting strategy in dealing with climate change and the effect of adapting strategy on paddy and fish productivity. The research took place in Mina Padi area of Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java. This research employed a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The informant of research consisted of farmers and extension officers selected using purposive sampling technique. The result of research shows that the Mina Padi farmers’ adapting strategy in dry season includes closing caren, the channel made in the deepest part of farming lot (the fish pond is concentrated in the front part of farm). The quality of production with caren is better than that without it. Paddy will not be attacked by pest when there is caren, because pest will be preyed directly by fish. The number of fish sowed is the same when there is and there is no Caren, but qualitatively the fish develop more rapidly than those concentrated in the pond only.
