摘要
The utilization of waste materials for the construction of roads is essential for the preservation of natural resources. Brick powder made from waste bricks has the potential to replace natural fillers. The replacement of brick powder w*ith natural filler has shown improvement in rutting, cracking, and moisture resistance of bituminous mixes. However, the brick-modified bituminous mixes have poor resistance to aging. The aging of bitumen is one of the major causes of premature failure of bituminous mixes. The hardening of bitumen due to aging will cause the premature failure of bituminous mixes due to cracking. So it is essential to improve the aging resistance of bituminous mixes made with brick powder. Therefore, the current study was directed towards enhancing the aging resistance of brick-modified bituminous mixes using Portland cement. The bituminous mixes were prepared by replacing the brick powder with 1% and 2% Portland cement. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Marshall stability tests indicate that the replacement of brick dust with 2% Portland cement resulted in a significant improvement in the aging resistance of brick dust-modified bituminous mixes.
