An equivalent numerical model for calculating shot peening bending deformation based on the laser forming method

•Bending deformation of peened plate is calculated by an equivalent numerical model.•The equivalent numerical model is developed on the basis of laser forming method.•The energy of the shot beam is equivalently converted to that of the laser beam.•The equivalent simulation is implemented using the laser-induced temperature field.
