Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the moral sensitivity of Iranian public librarians using a scenario-based approach. Based on an adopted moral sensitivity testing model nine scenarios were developed to assess bribery, discrimination, hypocrisy, contempt, blackmail, collusion, cover-up, whistleblowing, and disregarding merits. The scenarios were sent to a sample of 588 librarians via e-mail. The results indicated that the librarians had a moderate level of moral sensitivity and their moral development was at the "conventional level II." This suggests that their focus has been on social aspects and upstream regulations in making moral judgments while considering legality and morality as equivalent.
